Students and Teachers, if you've ever been interested in Amateur Radio, otherwise known as Ham Radio, we have a great opportunity for you! On November 17th we will have a day of lessons followed by the licensing test for only $10. Find Mrs. Cavin in Room 3204 or 7103 for more information!

The Freshmen Boys' Basketball team will be holding tryouts in the old gym this Wednesday from 330-430 in the old gym.  This tryout is only open to Freshmen.

Students, if you want to stay in the know about school related matters, sign up for calendar alerts.  You can get a notice for events added to the school’s calendar, the guidance calendar or both.  It’s the best way to know what is going on around campus.  You or your parents would benefit from being a Facebook friend to West Monroe High School.  Announcements are made to that social media site and twitter. You can find all of this information and more at gorebs.org.

Rebels - Applying to college early feels very rewarding.  It also can get you some rewards here at West Monroe High School.  Kameron Olds, you have won a Rebel Store Game Day T-shirt.  Report to Ms. May in Check In/Check Out.  Wear that T-shirt with pride, Kameron!

Seniors, remember that Lab #2102 will be open for two more Wednesday afternoons in periods 5, 6 and 7.  Get help completing the FAFSA and college applications.  Your parents are welcome to come at this time for support with the process as well.

Last week, you heard about Will Robertson, an enlistee to the United States Marines.  This week, we would like to celebrate Javin Lewis.  He has registered with the Army National Guard.  West Monroe High School is so proud that you are willing to dedicate your future in service to our state and country.  The Army National Guard is actually older than the United States. The forerunner of the Guard began in 1636, when ordinary citizens formed militias to defend their community. National Guard duty still focuses on domestic emergencies, but in the 21st century, it can involve overseas combat missions as well. Unlike the U.S. Army and other branches, the National Guard is state-based. Each state government has its own National Guard.  Javin Lewis, today, we celebrate you and the sacrifices we know you will make on behalf of community and country.

There will be an art club meeting in Mrs. Ganley's room after school on Thursday.  We are making a craft and we need an exact number of members attending so we may purchase enough supplies. If you can make it to Thursday's meeting, please stop by Mrs. Ganley's room and sign the list.  Again, Art Club meeting this Thursday in Mrs. Ganley's room.   See you there.

The WMHS Quiz Bowl teams competed at the C.E. Byrd Quiz Bowl Tournament on Saturday in Shreveport.  The Varsity Team placed 2nd in a field of 16 teams and the Jr. Varsity team placed 3rd in a field of 8 teams.  Magi Sumpter was awarded the 2nd place individual scorer award in the Varsity Division and Jonathan Norman was awarded the 2nd place individual scorer award in the Jr. Varsity Division.  Congratulations to all team members for a great tournament!

Seniors, baby ads are due to Mrs. McDuffie room 6204 before November first.  That's only two weeks away!
