Congratulations to the WMHS Quiz Bowl team for their 4th Place finish at the State Quiz Bowl Tournament last weekend! Members of the team were Grant Martin, Taylor Martin and Alex Ricks. Also, congratulations to Grant Martin for his Individual High Scorer Award. He was the 6th highest individual scorer in the state.

 

Ouachita Parish Transportation Department announces a drivers education class taught May 21- 26 at Good Hope Middle School.  A student must be at least 15 or turning 15 in May, June or July.  A parent must sign up at Good Hope Middle School in the main office.  A parent must have a students original birth certificate, original social security card, guardianship/custody papers if applicable and a parent must present a valid drivers license at the time of registration.  The cost of the class is $295 payable at the time of registration. Payment can be cash or check. Sign up runs from March 21 to May 18, space is limited and is first come first serve.  Contact wrobbins@opsb.net with any questions.

 

Student and Teachers: Come out on Tuesday, March 27, from 5 - 7 pm at Johnnys on Warren Drive or Wallace Road and support technology at WMHS. Let your teachers serve you a delicious Johnny's pizza! 

 

Attention sophomores and juniors!  We are looking for up to 85 to 90 students to “Link” to the incoming freshman class.  A student who fits the profile of a potential Link Leader are upperclassmen who are good role models for younger students and who have been successful at our high school.  Good communication skills, leadership potential, responsibility, personality, and lessons you have learned in high school should be shared to help others succeed. You could have a tremendous influence on our new students and you will learn many valuable leadership skills in the process.  Plus, it will be fun! 

 

Freshmen, we are also in need of an A-team to help prepare for orientation, support the coordinators with logistics, and provide valuable assistance during orientation. If you are interested in applying to be a Link Leader or a member of the A-team, you may pick up the application in the main office.  Completed applications must be returned to the main office no later than April 10 by 3:15 p.m.

 

Seniors, The Louisiana DARE Officers Association High School Scholarship applications are available in Guidance, on our web site, and on our Facebook page. The scholarship is in the amount of $1500. The deadline for applying is April 20, 2018, and the scholarship winner will be announced by May 1st. Get your application today.

 

The application for the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority is now available in guidance, on our web site and on our Facebook page. This scholarship opportunity is extended to local graduating African-American female seniors. The postmark deadline is Friday, March 30, 2018. If you are interested in applying be sure to get your application as soon as possible.

 

Attention all Senior National Honor Society Members, current and new inductees. The Great American Clean Up will be held Saturday, March 24 at 9:00 AM. Plan to meet on the boardwalk between 8:45 - 9:00 AM to sign in. We will be cleaning up the area around the school. This will count as your second community service project. If you are not able to attend, please see Ms. Rodgers.

 

Attention New Inductee Senior National Honor Society Members. Your donation to the Humane Society is this week. Please bring your donation to room 1205. If you have questions, please see Ms. Rodgers in room 1205.
